About Ranua & Pudasjärvi
Ranua and Pudasjärvi are sparsely populated boreal municipalities in northern Finland. The region is warming at twice the global average melting ice, rising temperatures, and erratic precipitation threaten ecosystems, agriculture, reindeer herding, and livelihoods. Lake eutrophication from nutrient runoff is a growing challenge and an untapped circular resource.

Lake Restoration & Circular Bioeconomy
NURISH implements lake rehabilitation through sludge extraction from eutrophied sediments for biogas production. The approach simultaneously restores water ecosystems, generates renewable energy, and produces organic amendments for local agriculture closing nutrient cycles in a genuinely circular rural bioeconomy.
